My favorite wine characteristics and types of wine: I’m a big fan of juicy, fruit-forward wines such as Petite Sirahs, Zinfandels and Malbecs. I’ve recently been getting into non-Pinot Grigio Italian whites for their crispness and fabulous idiosyncrasies. Of course one should never overlook spicy, tangy wines such as Shiraz or Grenache as a change of pace. I’ll try anything at least once, and I always like to experiment – you never know what’ going to appeal to you, keep an open mind! Most recently I fell absolutely in love with a Spanish Rosé that many people might have passed on the rack, without a second glance. I feel that the free wine tastings, on the weekends, that we offer at Liquor Square are the best way to explore new and different wines. My favorite wine experience: During my senior year at college some friends and I enrolled in a wine course because we were interested in learning about wines and opening our palates to the world of wine. Little did I know it would take a lifetime to learn all there is to know about the fascinating and complex subject of wine. Since then I take every opportunity to acquaint myself with current wine trends and discoveries and I always, always, always keep on tasting.
